Mural

This mural was created for Design Consortium as a group project with Jeff Poma, Mariah Steele and myself at Rutgers University Newark for Professor Rebecca Jampol Fall 2025

Our inspiration draws from the vast high-rise buildings and architecture found around the city. The mural / installation would emphasis the history of the city and bring its beauty and flourish to the forefront. Drawing inspiration from our research and observations throughout Newark, we selected buildings with distinctive forms that emphasize the city’s rich Art Deco heritage. These architectural choices highlight Newark’s historical development and reflect the city’s origins through their style and design. The designs are used to create a cohesive historical narrative that connects our sources of inspiration with the buildings across the site. As a major hub for transportation, not only within the site but for Newark as a whole, the motif of birds in flight unifies each element, symbolizing movement, connection, and the flow of people through the city.
